After losing my job in late January and having no luck finding a new one, I decided to look into backgroud acting which I had done in Northern California about 15 years ago. Not really sure how I found David Anthony Casting but I'm grateful I did! A couple of weeks after I signed up I was put to work on Get Him To The Greek. I forgot how much I enjoyed being on-set!! I missed out on the Nike audition due to Company, but was put to work again On Percy Jackson for 3 nights. I now am eligible to join SAG! David and Alan are WONDERFUL and as a "Newbie" they've made me feel as if I've been a part of the David Anthony Casting family for years! I love working with them and can't thank them enough for the wonderful opportunities! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I would also like to give kudos to the crew of Percy Jackson, particularly AD Haggerty. He was very professional and treated us with respect and appreciate. He made us feel we were truly valued as background actors. Would love to work with him again!

Thanks to the work I got from DAC on The Hangover, Get Him To The Greek, and another project or 2, I earned enough SAG-eligible credits and am now a SAG member! Pretty crazy considering that this is just kind of a hobby for me, but it's a lot of fun, David and his crew are very friendly, and being on film sets is really interesting. I had a great time even with the long hours.
It seemed all who were there was apart of a big family.
Met alot of people who have been doing extra work and they gave me a few good poiters.
I would not mind doing extra work with the crew like the one on The Hangover movie.

First time doing extra/background work, was fun for the most part but 2 very long nights. Great to meet big actors Heather Graham, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis. Plenty of food, crew was very cool and laid back.

David&Co.are the best
I don't have much experience, but for what I did so far, David is absolutely the best. Upon checking in, he took the time in a busy enviroment to welcome me and he had some very kind words. The food was outstanding and all teams super professional. I did not feel treated like cattle as it happens with other agencies.

Self-Serving CRAP from the largest most well known background agency in LA is exactly what I had become used to when working in the San Fernando Valley. The primary agency available was well versed in how to say one thing and deliver another. And they charged a fee just to be listed. Casting Directors that had their list of favorites caused me to be bumped more than once because one of their friends showed up on set. Many times their details on their Hotlines were wrong. They worked and I got sent home. On one film the set/check-in area was 12 miles away from the hotline designated check-in/set. I got lucky by following one of the production vehicles to the set. AD’s that didn’t seem to know their jobs and PA’s who thought they walked on water. Rude was the word of the day on many sets. Craft Services had earned the name Crap Services as many times the food was cold, ill prepared or just tasted weird.

All this being said, when I heard about David Anthony Casting, I decided to give him a try. Besides, I really missed the work since moving to Nevada. As you can see by my “About You” post, this was really a pleasant surprise.
To those who are just curious about extra work, A.K.A. Background Artist work, this is the place to find out if it is for you.
You get paid, fed and treated well but there is a hidden bonus. This is an unprecedented educational opportunity. Ever watch a movie and wonder “How’d they do that?” Well on some projects you will see it done. You will also learn to really appreciate a film when you find out what’s involved in making one. My experience has taught me that the ratio between what you see and what was done to create what you see can be as high as 3 days per minute and that doesn’t include editing, voice over or music.
And those of you who aspire to a career in acting, this is the perfect way to start. You get to watch the pros up close and personal. You also get seen by other members of the industry. If you work, it really is a job you know, and learn you may find that future you are looking for. I’ve been pulled out of the group and given a line or 2 which was fun and increased my pay. If it can happen to me, it can happen to you.
Remember when I said this could mislead you? The misleading will take place when you work for another agency and expect it to be like this one.

Having worked on most major films and TV productions in Las Vegas until I got sick 3 years ago, I have been in front of a camera since the age of 3. In the time I was off, it seemed the casting world of Vegas had been taken over by get rich quick schemes and people looking to capitalize on making your child a star. I signed up on David Anthony's site about a month ago, for free. It was easy and fast and within a week, I was being notified about upcoming projects and had the ability to book work when I can.
It is nice to have professionals again in Las Vegas. I hope anyone who wants to spend time doing background or for that matter, any work in front of the cameras, signs up here. You won't be sorry and you'll be working with the nicest, happiest and fairest casting group Las Vegas has had in years.

I have worked with David for 8 years...My first gig was 6 weeks on Rush Hour 2..It was sometimes a difficult shoot with an often very testy crew...but David made it all better with a kind word for everyone every morning at check in..His friendly upbeat demeanor help us start each day with positive vibes...I had given up on extra work because of agencys who take your money , ask you to put yourself on some mythical stand by list and then only call their favorites ( people who worked multiple days while the rest of us sit by the phone that never rings) Even more frustrating was checking their web site to see messages like "the first ten people to show up get to work", or "i need 19 more people for this evening" It can be very frustrating to follow directions and only call once, sit home by the phone and then see messages like that on the web site...I was called once at 4 in the afternoon asking if I could be on set ready to work with my 3 wardrobe selections in an hours time..I live 30 minutes from the strip, had been working in the garden and painting walls all day, but I made it in an hour ready to work...It was a short night but I figured since I was responsible and bailed the CD out of trouble I would get called the next week to work..No....she went back to her favorites list...There are CD's that don't understand that we are as much her clints as the movie companies are...they treat us like children...take our money and then talk down to us...sorry but you can't succeed for long in this business with a small list of favorites...I am not exactly a freshman in this extra's busienss..I have worked on multiple projects from movies, TV, commercials, featured extras role, and small speaking roles in non union independents...and David has always been the best and most professional CD I have ever worked with..His computer system is great...No calling every day to see if their is work..an Email to alert that there are projects in the pike and just click on your name what could be easier..I am a caregiver for a mother with Alzheimers and being able to dress up and put on makeupa and hang on the set with a diverse group of people has saved literally saved my life Thank You David and crew...I just hope everyone who has posted here continues to work as professionally as they can...so David looks good and continues to bring projects to town...He is one of the most professional, fair minded CD's in the business and we will all work if we continue to make him look good..............with our exceptional work ethic...Antoinette ( grandma t)

The Hangover was the first project for which I was booked by David Anthony's agency although I've worked as an extra in other movies. The booking was easy and fast, instructions were clear, the crew members were top notch professionals, and all that combined made the whole process too enjoyable to be called work :) Overall, a very positive experience and friendly atmosphere. Working on the hangover last weekend was my first time doing anything with background. when i got there was hearing stories of people working with other casting agency's and they were horrific, i immediately started to get nervous thinking this was one of those agency.

Boy was I wrong.

Everyone on the set is so patient. I wasn't down with the lingo yet and accident started my action on "rolling" one of the directors just gave me a quick run down of everything, he wasn't mad at all. Also, since we were outside, all the crew members made sure we had sunscreen, helped people put it on and even reminded us to keep applying it and constantly were getting everyone waters. I never felt so welcomed. I just moved here from Maine 3 weeks ago and everyone was so warn and inviting and just kept feeding me tips. I hope i get the opportunity to work with you guys again. It was a fun and amazing experience. I highly recommend and have recommended this agency to other people.
